Aloe vera is a plant that has many uses, due to its multiple benefits. From a nutritional point of view, it provides vitamins and minerals so, by adding other ingredients to an aloe vera smoothie prepared at home, you will be enhancing its positive effects.
Among the most important are its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, laxative and depurative properties. It also has the ability to strengthen the functioning of the immune system.
One of the best ways to consume aloe vera is by combining it with other fruits and vegetables. Do you want to know how to make an aloe vera smoothie? To prepare it, wash the leaves and soak them in water overnight. In the morning, peel them and separate the transparent gel inside with a spoon, as this is the part of the plant you are going to eat. Store it in a clean, covered jar and put it in the fridge. It will then be ready to be incorporated into smoothies. Off you go!
Aloe vera and apple smoothie, very nourishing
The slightly acidic taste of apples and their crunchy texture give a special touch to this mixture, which is rich in vitamins and fibre. You need 50 g of aloe vera gel, 1 green apple, the juice of 1 orange and ½ a cucumber, with the skin and seeds removed.
Core the apple and chop it into pieces; do the same with the cucumber. Place all ingredients in a blender and process until a smooth mixture is obtained. If the smoothie is too thick, add two tablespoons of water and, if desired, sweetener. Blend again and it is ready to drink.
The best aloe vera and ginger smoothie
The pungent taste of ginger is perfect for combining with aloe vera, and together they help burn fat and regulate blood pH. The ingredients needed for this smoothie are: 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel, 1 tablespoon of peeled, thinly sliced ginger, the juice of 1 lemon, 1 teaspoon of turmeric and 2 cups of water. Blend all the ingredients and serve in a glass, with a sprig of mint as a garnish, contrasting with the colour of the turmeric.
In addition to aloe vera smoothies, you can also prepare a very comforting infusion by heating two cups of water in a saucepan, then dissolving a tablespoon of gel in the hot water and adding chopped ginger. Turn off the heat and let stand for a few minutes, add a squeeze of lemon juice and finally strain to drink.
